Tomorrow, Saturday, 11 November 2023, has been declared a day of Total Fire Ban in the Mallee, with conditions in that part of the state forecast to be hot and windy with a wind change and wind speeds of up to 40 km/h.

A Total Fire Ban means no fire can be lit in the open air or allowed to remain alight from 12.01 am to 11.59 pm on the day of the Total Fire Ban.

CFA Chief Officer Jason Heffernan said the TFB has been declared due to the expected conditions across the Mallee region tomorrow.

“Tomorrow’s conditions will make it difficult for firefighters to suppress a fire should one start,” he said.

“We’re asking people to follow the strict conditions associated with the Total Fire Ban declaration.

“Understand how the increased fire risk will impact you and ensure your fire plan covers all possible contingencies.”

The Fire Danger Rating for the Wimmera district will be HIGH, with temperatures in Dimboola forecast to reach 26°C but with high winds during the day.

The Mallee district includes the municipalities of Buloke Shire, Gannawarra Shire, Mildura Rural City, Swan Hill Rural City, and the part of the Yarriambiack Shire north of the netting fence.

The Wimmera district includes the Hindmarsh Shire, Horsham Rural City, Northern Grampians Shire, West Wimmera Shire, and the Yarriambiack Shire south of the netting fence.
