When nominations closed at 12 pm on Tuesday, eight individuals had nominated for the six positions across the three Wards in the Hindmarsh Shire.

With only two nominations for the two vacancies in the West Ward, the election is uncontested and voting will not be required, and the two candidates will be declared elected after voting closes on 25 October.

In both other two Wards, there are three candidates for the two positions, so an election is required, which will be by postal vote, with voting packs mailed to eligible voters from Monday, 7 October 2024.

Completed vote forms can be posted back to be received by the deadline or hand-delivered to the election office at the Jeparit Memorial Hall before midday on 1 November 2024.

Dimboola is in the East Ward, which includes the south-east corner of the Shire, stretching to a line west of Salisbury and north to Antwerp.

The North Ward encompasses the area of the Shire north of an east-west line that runs through Antwerp and includes the towns of Jeparit, Rainbow, Netherby, and Yanac, and the West Ward contains Nhill and the remainder of the south-west corner of the Shire. (For the exact borders between the Wards, refer to the VEC website.)
