Emergency services are attending a two-car motor vehicle collision on the Western Highway south-east of Dimboola.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision in Dimboola this afternoon.

It is understood two cars collided on the Western Highway at about 5 pm.

One of the drivers, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The passenger was airlifted to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other driver was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.

Motorists are advised the Western Highway between Dimboola and Horsham will be closed for
several hours.

UPDATE - 7.30 pm - The Western Highway is currently closed in both directions between the Borung Highway and Pattersons Road, Wail, while Police investigate the circumstances of the collision.

The collision occurred at around 5.20 pm near Petschels Road just south of the overtaking lanes, two kilometres north of the Wail overpass.

Traffic is being held up in both directions, with drivers encouraged to avoid the section of the highway
