It was announced earlier this week that the work on the overpass on the Western Highway at Dimboola is amongst some work for several projects on the main Melbourne to Adelaide highway.

The work is to strengthen the overpass that takes the highway over the main railway line, along with similar work on the bridge over Mount William Creek at Dadswells Bridge is scheduled to commence later this year and be completed in 2026.

The allocation for this part of the project is $6.1 million out of a $1.1 billion funding announcement, which also includes capacity and safety improvements closer to Melbourne on the freeway between Melton and Caroline Springs, and planning and early works to upgrade the intersection of the freeway with Brewery Tap Road in Warrenheip, east of Ballarat.

Current major road works

There are currently two significant road rehabilitation projects underway on the Blue Ribbon Road, north of Horsham at Kalkee and Murra Warra.

The work sites are between Ladlows Road and Wail-Dooen Road, and between Dimboola-Minyip and Old Minyip Roads where a total of 2.3 kilometres of road will be resurfaced

Crews are working on the road surface between 7am and 6 pm, from Monday 3 March, 2025 to May 2025, with the dates and times subject to change due to weather conditions.

During works, single lane closures are in place, with reduced speed limits to ensure the safety of crews and road users.
