The Mallee Machinery Field Days at Speed scheduled for the start of August have been cancelled.

This comes after the Wimmera Machinery Field Days did not go ahead in March this year for the first time in their 58-year history, and is the second year running that the event at Speed has not gone ahead.

Field days, such as the two mentioned above, are important events in local calendars providing many social and economic benefits to the wider region.

The Mallee Machinery Field Days have in the past welcomed more than 8,500 visitors with around 350 exhibitors and an estimated $100 million worth of equipment and machinery on site.

The statement below was released by the Mallee Machinery Field Days last week:
It is with much sadness that the Lions Club of Speed reluctantly announce that this year’s event has been cancelled. With the current lockdown in Victoria and the situation in NSW, a number of exhibitors have already had to cancel their attendance and things are unlikely to improve quickly enough to ensure the safety of our community - volunteers, exhibitors and the public alike.

We will be contacting our community groups and exhibitors over the coming days.
